More than 900 survey responses, one room: LGBTI Pathways partners meet to begin data analysis
- The LGBTIacronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex people. Although this is not the acronym available to describe people of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, and sex characteristics, it is the most commonly used in United Nations spaces and advocacy. More Pathways team and project partners began analysing the data of the global survey conducted during the first months of 2026
- The LGBTI Pathways survey received more than 900 answers from every region of the world
- LGBTI Pathways survey data offer unique insights into LGBTI organisations’ priorities, the work they do, and how these intersect across movements
From 18-19 June 2026, staff from the Global Philanthropy Project, ILGA World and the Pathways global technical team met in Tallinn, Estonia, to review the first round of analysis of the LGBTI Pathways survey data. The Pathways survey was open from January to May 2026, and we received over 900 valid responses from all regions of the world.
There was incredible outreach by the Pathways regional partners, numerous civil society organisations and committed funders. Thanks to everyone’s efforts, we received almost a thousand survey responses and have a solid sample size for the reports.

As this was the first time that those who had been working closely on the project over the last two and a half years were seeing the results, it was an exciting meeting with many stimulating discussions about what the findings were telling us
We were lucky to have members of the Global Resources Report team, fresh from the launch on 16 June, to look at the Pathways data with us.
There were fascinating insights into LGBTI organisations’ priorities, the work they do across different communities, issues, and strategies, and how these intersect across movements. For example, in most regions, groups prioritised work they did with people living in poverty/on low income, which is not something widely discussed in LGBTI communities.
The next months will be intense, with Global Philanthropy Project and ILGA World working closely with the technical team to produce further rounds of data analysis, report writing, and production in the final months of 2026. We will share updates along the way and are looking forward to sharing the deep learnings with you.
