ILGA calls for distribution of LGTB Rights map

Dear friends of ILGA:

As you know, starting in 2008, ILGA has been producing a map showing the legal situation of gays and lesbians around the world.

A number of groups have already used this map to generate awareness in pride marches in their respective cities, for example, by printing it in large plastic posters or flags and by distributing thousands of copies to attendees. If you are interested in doing the same, you can download the 2010, no-copyright version of the map for free from ilga.org (click in maps/report, and scroll down: it is underneath the pictures on the right hand side).
This year, apart from the world map, ILGA has also launched regional maps for Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean to be used by local organizations in their battles against discrimination.

Thanks to the generous contribution by UNISON, who printed the maps for ILGA free of cost, ILGA-region would like to celebrate this event with a very special activity: sending free copies of the regional maps to members of LGTBY organizations that are ILGA members too, to be distributed in pride marches and other events.

If you would like a map, you need to send us an e-mail with the following information:

– date and event during which you are planning to distribute the maps

– your strategies for distribution (for example, a volunteer group, other groups from your city/region, deals with local magazines to put up maps, etc).

– how many copies of the map you will need (the maximum amount to be delivered per organization is 1000)

– how you will demonstrate to ILGA that the maps have been distributed (for example, through photography, videos, etc)

Your events will also appear in the newsletter and in the ILGA website.

If you are interested, please send an email to regionalcoordinator@.ilga.org before the deadline with the required information. The maps will be delivered completely free of charge. Also, do not forget to read news about the XXV Annual ILGA World Conference in our website, ilga.org.

Greetings,

Stephen Barris
