ILGA WORLD ANNOUNCES UPCOMING DEPARTURE OF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ANDRÉ DU PLESSIS, OPENS CALL FOR A NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Summary
During his time with ILGA World, du Plessis first led the organisation’s United Nationsan international organisation comprising 193 member States. It has the mission of maintaining peace and security, protecting human rights, providing humanitarian aid and ensuring economic and social development across the globe. It is a network of many different bodies and agencies, each of which has a particular role and responsibility. More programme, to then become Executive Director in March 2018, overseeing a period of great growth. During his tenure, the organisation has strengthened its presence in United Nations fora while expanding its advocacy work to the intersection of LGBTIacronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex people. Although this is not the acronym available to describe people of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, and sex characteristics, it is the most commonly used in United Nations spaces and advocacy. More human rights in new areas such as with sports, faith and business; it has established a new Gender Identityrefers to a person’s deeply felt internal and individual experience of gender, which may or may not correspond with the sex assigned at birth. More Programme; it has also further expanded its ground-breaking research work, secured financial stability, and increased its staff capacity.

I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for this organisation, the global LGBTIQ community, and the world. I’ll be leaving ILGA for perhaps the best reason – love, as my partner and I work out a way to live together across the ocean – but I’ll always be a part of this amazing community.”
