Since its first session, the Universal Periodic Review has been an important mechanism to include LGBTI issues in international recommendations.
To this date, more than 2,500 recommendations regarding diverse topics related to sexual orientation, gender identity and expression and sex characteristics have been made in the 35 sessions of the UPR.
But none of this would be possible without the work of activists who pushed for the inclusion of these recommendations and also for their implementation domestically.
This webinar aims to give a brief overview on how LGBTI issues have been addressed at this UN mechanism and share strategies for pre-session advocacy as well for the follow-up and implementation of recommendations.
This webinar is co-organised by ILGA World and COC Nederland, and is part of #inthistogether: CONNECTED, an ILGA World series of online roundtables and advocacy webinars on the queer world during and after Covid-19
