This event is a preview of ILGA World's #inthistogether: CONNECTED, our upcoming series of online roundtables
and advocacy webinars on the queer world during and after COVID 19
Women from IWRAW Asia Pacific, RFSL and ILGA World will talk about how we support local defenders and how we together make our struggles visible at different fora.
You will learn more about the UN Commission on the Status of Women, Human Rights Council, CEDAW Committee, the Working Group on discrimination against Women and the Special Rapporteur on violence against women. We will also share with you information about recent calls for data on rape and gender-based violence in the COVID-19 crisis.
We will talk about challenges, achievements and practice of the United Nations advocacy for trans women.
Local activists and attorneys from Russia and Kazakhstan will share with you their experience of strategic litigation and community-based advocacy. You will learn about the first successful CEDAW case on anti-lesbian violence, as well as a research on LBTQ women’s needs and its importance for the United Nations reports.
And, of course, we will be happy to address any questions about LBTQ women and the UN from all of you!
