Pedro Ivo Oliveira

Pedro Ivo Oliveira (he/him) is the current Junior Consultant on the Human Rights Council, Universal Periodic Review, and National Advocacy Engagement within the United Nations Programme at ILGA World.

He is from Brazil and holds a Bachelor of Arts in International relations from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais, as well as a Diploma in Leadership in social inclusion and access to rights from the School of Governance of the Organization of American States. Pedro has an extensive background working in international organisations and NGOs on human rights, social inclusion, and democracy.

Besides that, in his undergraduate thesis, he researched the multidimensional efforts of UNAIDS in guaranteeing the human rights of the key populations of men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender persons in response to the epidemic. In the research, he focused on the role of three main international organisations: UNFPA, UNESCO, and the World Bank and on their efforts in comprehensive sexual education, sexual and reproductive health, and technical and financial assistance.

Furthermore, he previously worked at the Organization of American States as an Intern in the Department of Social Inclusion, following his passion for Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights. And more recently, he joined the Department of Electoral Cooperation and Observation and worked in two different elections in South America as an assistant and electoral observer to help on ensuring the democratic process in the region.

In his spare time, he enjoys reading books, watching TV shows, and writing for his newsletter focused on personal and professional development.
