Iru Tau (she/her) is a human rights activist, and the last of a family of four from mixed parentage, coming from Hula in the central province and Alotau in the Milne Bay province in Papua New Guinea.
Graduated as hospitality industry student, Iru is a human rights activist and a proud transgender queer person.
Iru started as an activist in 2012 where she saw the cry of her community and stood up to be their voice. Stigma, discrimination, violence and abuse did not stop Iru for continuing the work she chose to do for the betterment of the community.
