WHY ATTEND THE 4IIF?

The International Intersex Forum brings together intersex advocates and organisations from all regions of the world. The 4th forum in Amsterdam is preceded by 3 fora: Brussels (2011), Stockholm (2012), and Malta (2013).

The closing statements of the three previous fora have been cited by numerous human rights institutions around the world, including intersex human rights papers published by the Council of Europe's Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions, and by ally organizations.

The statement of the Third International Intersex Forum, also known as the 'Malta Declaration' affirms the existence of intersex people, and demands an end to discrimination against intersex people and to ensure the right of bodily integrity, physical autonomy and self-determination. For the first time, the Forum included a statement on birth registrations, in addition to other human rights issues.
