About the organisation
ILGA Oceania is part of the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association - a worldwide federation of more than 1,800 organisations from over 170 countries and territories campaigning for the human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender-diverse, intersex and queer plus persons. We want a world where the human rights of all are respected and where everyone can live in equality and freedom: a world where global justice and equity are assured and established regardless of people’s sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expressions and sex characteristics (SOGIESC).
ILGA Oceania works to support the rights of, and provide a voice for all: lesbian, gay, intersex, bisexual, sistergirls, brotherboys, takatāpui, queer, genderqueer, trans, whakawāhine, tangata ira tāne, mahu, vakasalewalewa, palopa, fakaleiti: akava'ine, fa'afafine, and fakafifine persons of Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.
ILGA Oceania has funding to advocate for the decriminalisation of activity on the grounds of a person’s SOGIESC across the Pacific region. It is seeking a suitably skilled and experienced consultant to manage the program across the region.
You will deliver regional program management activities to achieve project outcomes including:

- conducting research
- developing program and campaign resources
- project logistics including managing the budget, regular reporting and data collection.
This consultancy requires a five-day per-week commitment until December 2024. Depending on funding, there may be an opportunity for consultancy renewal.
You have a deep commitment to human rights and social justice. You have worked with marginalised groups in the Pacific region and bring a range of capabilities, including:
- strong relationship-building skills and communication skills across a range of stakeholders
- experience in developing and leading campaigns and strategic resource mobilisation activities
- prior success in delivering sustainable results for improved outcomes for intervened populations
- well-developed project management and operational skills, including program design and delivery, research, monitoring and evaluation, finance and reporting
- fluency in English
- intermediate computer literacy.
You have presence, gravitas, humility, and empathy in engaging with people from a variety of backgrounds and sensitivity to issues relating to diversity, gender equity, and human rights.
Ideally, you will be based in Suva (Fiji), where you will be able to work out of the office of our partner organisation the Pacific Sexuality and Gender Diverse Network (PSGDN).
We strongly prefer applicants from the Pacific who identify as a member of the LGBTQI+ communities.
