Scholarships are offered to people who would otherwise be unable to attend the conference due to financial reasons. Only LGBTI human rights defenders and activists (including but not limited to representatives of ILGA member organisations) are eligible to apply.
A full scholarship will cover visa application, processing fees and associated costs, roundtrip flight to Los Angeles, shared accommodation in a double-occupancy room, conference registration fees, medical insurance and a small daily allowance for incidentals.
Partial scholarships will also be available: if you are able to partly fund your participation in the ILGA World Conference 2022, this will allow us to bring more activists to Los Angeles. Only a limited number of partial scholarships will be granted.
The scholarship application must be submitted before 23:59 Central European Time on Sunday 17 January 2021 Wednesday 27 January 2021 (new deadline!). Selected scholars will be informed by the end of May 2021, thus giving successful applicants time to work with ILGA World on securing a visa (if needed). Unsuccessful applicants will then have the chance to seek alternative funding and to register later as a paying participant.

ILGA World will take reasonable measures to ensure that successful scholars are able to attend the conference. However please note that any scholarship granted will always remain conditional due to several factors including but not limited to: the situation of the global Covid-19 pandemic, ILGA World securing funding for scholarships, the applicant being granted a visa to access the United States, the availability of a travel/flights within reasonable cost limits, the ability to get health travel insurance for the scholar, existing or future travel bans by governments, the reasonableness of existing or future vaccine, hygiene and quarantine restrictions. Accordingly, a scholarship may be revoked by ILGA World at any time.
This gathering of ILGA members and other LGBTI organisations provides a great space to connect, learn, collaborate, coordinate, discuss and agree on future strategies for the global LGBTI movement. Sessions - in the form of panel discussions, workshops and other discussion spaces are a fundamental part of it.
ILGA conferences are diverse and engaging because much of the content is proposed and run by LGBTI organisations and other partners from around the world. We are accepting session proposals made by either organisations or individuals.
You are strongly encouraged to partner with other organisations and activists to pool knowledge and expertise. Please note that you may also be asked by ILGA World to work with another group that has made a proposal similar to yours.
Proposals must suggest a topic, format and presenters for an engaging session.
The deadline to submit a session is Sunday 10 Wednesday 20 January 2021, 23:59 Central European Time (new deadline!). If your proposal is accepted, you will be notified by the end of May 2021.

IMPORTANT: Please note that your proposal being accepted does not mean that you or other presenters will receive financial support from ILGA World to attend the 2022 Conference in Los Angeles. You will still need to pay the conference fee. You should look for funding to support your participation. You and other presenters who would like to attend can also apply for an ILGA World scholarship. If your session proposal is accepted but is unable to go ahead, you must inform ILGA World immediately so that your session slot can be given to somebody else.
