UN HCR Navi Pillay
OHCHR urging member states to respect individuals who carry documents which denotes their gender as "other"

in NEPAL, 30/09/2012

Sunil Babu Pant, member of Nepal parliament and Director of Blue Diamond Society shares a letter from Navi Pillay, UN OHCHR urging member states to respect individuals who carry documents which denotes their gender as "other."

It is hoped that other governments will recognize their citizens who do not identify themselves as male or female, and that embassies, immigrations and boarder security systems will respect "other" genders when they travel.

It is also hoped that Home Ministry of Nepal does not cause any delay to issue directives (last pending thing to be able to get citizenship ID by third gender in Nepal) to the chief district offices in Nepal so that they can start issuing citizenship ID to "other" immediately.
