Your role will help to guide the strategic vision and implementation of this commitment by leading the team responsible for delivery of our work on women?s control over their bodies and women’s economic empowerment. Use your extensive experience of using rights-based approaches to advance women?s rights work and support the work of a global ActionAid family helping to build a fair and just world where everyone can claim their rights.
As Senior Programme Manager for Women’s Rights, you will provide strategic leadership for the development, design and implementation of high-impact rights-based programming on AAI?s global strategy objective 5, encompassing Key Change Promise 9 (VAW, the right to sexual/reproductive health) and Key Change Promise 10 (feminist economics, women’s collectives and unpaid care work) as well as cross-promise work on understanding the implications of urbanisation from a feminist perspective.
During this 6 months period, you will be responsible for chairing two multi-country project accountability teams for donor-funded projects. You will also responsible for chairing a multi-country cross-functional oversight team on delivery of above work on Strategic Objective 5. You will be expected to play a role in helping to position AAI as one of the leading NGOs globally on the links between poverty and women’s rights, and help attract significant external funding to further scale up our work in these areas, including by acting as a senior spokesperson for women’s rights. You will also be responsible for team management and for supporting 5 team members (3 direct and 2 non-direct reports) on achieving their objectives.
A postgraduate in a relevant field you will have extensive experience on working on women?s rights programing, as well as experience providing strategic guidance, advice and monitoring on women?s rights. You must possess strong analytical skills, the ability to communicate persuasively with different internal and external audiences and an eye for detail. Comfortable prioritising many competing responsibilities, you are able to meet deadlines.
