Karandlaje was speaking at the valedictory of the women entrepreneurs’ convention organised by Karnataka State Women Development Corporation (KSWDC) here on Thursday.
She said many transgenders had already applied for the ration cards. She said a survey on transgenders will be conducted soon adding that many people from the community were getting jobs in courts.
“We will also impart training to transgenders so that they will get jobs in other departments too,” she said.
She added that cases of dowry harassment and female foeticide are increasing and the number of girls in the state decreased. At present, Stree Shakthi Groups get a loan upto to ` 1lakh. “We are planning to increase it to Rs 2 lakh,” she said and added more such efforts will be put for women’s development.
