The Disney Channel will feature its first-ever gay character in 30 year history

An episode of the comedy Good Luck Charlie will include a lesbian couple.

The Disney Channel, launched in 1983, has so far never featured any LGBT characters.

That is set to change in early 2014 when an episode of its series Good Luck Charlie features a family with two moms.

TV Guide reports that in the storyline, series parents Amy and Bob Duncan have set up a playdate for their preschooler Charlie and one of her new friends.
