Pan Africa ILGA (PAI) wishes Fikile Vilakazi well on her departure from the Coalition of African Lesbians (CAL) after seven years of dedicated service as Director.
The Coalition of African Lesbians (CAL) is a network of organisations committed to African lesbian equality and visibility. CAL works to transform Africa into a place where all lesbians enjoy the full range of human rights, secure in the knowledge that we are recognised as full citizens, with diverse and rich cultures, and a significant and respected presence in all spheres of life, through personal and organisational growth.
In a statement issued by the CAL on 10th December 2012, the Executive Committee, said “Fikile Vilakazi will this month be leaving the Coalition as a full time staff member and moving on to new challenges, both personal and political. Fikile will remain a committed member of CAL and will act in an advisory role as part of the management of the transition that her departure from CAL presents”.
Whilst we recognise that this would have been a difficult decision we trust that with her departure, CAL will continue to hold strength in the spirit of those who now have the responsible to anchor the organisation.
After many years of dedication to the human rights and LGBTI movements, we would like to wish Fikile well in all her future endeavours.
PAI remains committed to supporting peoples and organisations in Africa and look forward to a new opportunity to work with Fikile in her new role and also with the Executive Committee and Staff at CAL.
