Most of the transgenders live in a colony in Bhupeshnagar (ward number 29), Vizag South constituency, in the vicinity of the railway station which is in a dismal condition. No politician ever visits their colony for taking up development work.
Dispirited by the apathy shown towards them by the government and society at large, even those who have voter cards said they do not want to vote for any of the political parties. "Though many of us had applied for voter ID cards either at the collectorate or at the eSeva three to five months ago, we haven’t yet got them. We didn’t even know that we can be enrolled under ‘Others’ category from this year," claimed Rajkumari, one of the senior members of the community.
