On Wednesday, a committee debated on issues of sex-workers, transgenders, health, environment and ways to create awareness about women’s issues. Preeti Patkar, activist and convener of NGO Prerna that works among sex-workers, said the government needs to address issues of human trafficking, pushing young girls into prostitution, issues of women who are in the trade, their civic rights and rehabilitation. "From prevention to protection to rehabilitation—I fear the policy may not be able to tackle all issues. It may just look at those in the trade," she said.
