LGBT and HR training for Africa

The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, Sida invites candidates to apply to the LGBT and Human Rights International Training Programme 2010/2011.

The training is administered by RFSU, The Swedish Association for Sexuality Education, in partnership with RFSL, The Swedish Federation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trangender Rights, and will be conducted in English.

The programme is designed for participants working in organisations or sectors giving them an influence on issues concerning LGBT and human rights.

The first part of the training will take place in Stockholm, Sweden, October 18-November 5, 2010. The follow-up part of the programme will take place in Africa region, May 30-June 3, 2011.

The programme is open for application by candidates from the following countries in Africa:

Angola, Botswana, Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Moçambique, Namibia, Rwanda,
South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Requested qualifications of applicants:

– A minimum of three years workinge experience in either LGBT or Human Rights’ field or an academic degree in social sciences, law, public health or related fields of study.
– Equilavent knowledge obtained through similar experiences.

Closing date for application: April 9th, 2010

Sida will be covering the cost for participants concerning the participation fee, meals and accommodation. Personal expenses are not included. Sida will also cover international travels, to and from Sweden for participants.
