The 17-year-old boy entered the Hokkaido Prefectural English Speech Contest with his oration on LGBT rights last year.
He begun his inspiring monologue by describing the anti-gay legislation recently passed by Russia and the effect it would have on the Western societies.
‘Why do gay people have to face discrimination? Is it because they are not heterosexual?’, he asked. ‘The law cannot control love or people’s feelings.’
The Japanese student spoke about the famous Martin Luther King’s speech ‘I have a dream’ and he said he also shares his dream of equality.
