Cameeroon, is one of those african countries where same sex practices are criminalized thanks to its current Article 347 Bis, which criminalises same sex practices! Association Espoir Plus, together with other organizations active in the fight against discrimination and marginalization of these community groups have started building a strong alliance with other brother organizations that will enable us join our forces and carryout effective advocacy regarding this unfair situation here in cameroon.
A.E.P, is based in the southwest region of Cameroon, with its head office in limbe, effectively reaches these socially disadvantaged community members especially in the cities of Limbe, Buea and Kumba. Mass sensitization activities are currently going on every weekends especially the saturdays and sundays so as to educate these socially disadvantaged community members on sexual health and prevention of STI. They are also enriched with knowledge on brother organizations in bigger cities like douala where they can go to incase of medical consultations regarding their health situations since most of the cases of health issues related to same sex practices cannot be expressed in hostile or homophobic clinics.
Together with other brother organizations that have carried carried out activities long before we even started, we hope to make a change! Make every community member to be integrated in the strategic fight against HIV AIDS.
