Hello,

My name is Gili Estlin Hirsch, and I am a queer poet and writer. Two years ago, I started a movement called Apples, Etc., meant to bring better representation to the queer and LGBT population in the literary arts.

I have compiled and am publishing my first collection of poetry along with illustrator Alex Ogden. It is a depiction in a series of 50 poems and 25 illustrations of a love story between queer women. I hope that it raises awareness to the gross underrepresentation of queers in society and in arts in particular, and that it provides LGBTQ* folk with a an opportunity to see themselves represented, comforted, and reflected in and by art. Words have always been my biggest love and growing up, I couldn’t find quite the right story to see myself in. I am now aiming to change that experience for all LGBTQ* folk, and to create a love story that is wholly inclusive, non-stereotypical, and that is welcoming to anyone--without needing to bridge genders or pronouns, scour pages with false hope, or ever feel excluded from stories again. I hope that this will contribute to a culture where inclusion happens in all forms of art, so that everyone, truly, can have their own story. We're really trying to make this bold new step towards having love stories of same sex couples or lgbtq* couples be the norm.

I would be honoured if you could help raise awareness to this cause in any way through your wonderful organisation and its work. You can see poems, illustrations, a video, and purchase the book, here: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/anna-a-queer-love-story-in-poem/x/3858588

Thank you for fighting for a better, more inclusive world for all of us, and for giving room and inspiration to creators like me to do the same.

Thank you,
Gili Estlin Hirsch

Your artical written by the Guardian is the abhorrent piece of writing I have seen in a long time.It is nothing but old fashion European anti-Semitism in new clothes.

I am a veteran of the Stonewall Rebellion which led to the gay rights movement in the United States. I never would imagine a gay rights organization would stoop so low as to allow such a false article on its web site. Shame on you.

Jews and Gays were burned at the stake during the Spanish Inquisition in case you are so ignorent in history. The Christian Bible demonized Gay people and Jewish people, leading to the European Holocaust in the 20th century, which gassed Gay people and Jews.

The only true statement in the Guardian article is that Israel is the only country in the Middle East that does not criminalize Gay people. You are a gay organization, you would think you would see that as a good thing. Hamas kills gay people. Is it your job to promote Hammas?

I would appreciate it if you would remove that article from your web site.
