This is a very important video. In this video, I have documented some of the suffering that Iraqi homosexuals facing in everyday life.
The government does not care about their suffering, because they consider them as a sick people or mentally ill, which is not true. In addition the Iraqi police have the right to arrest them and film then to publish it on internet and it goes beyond sexual harassments. The content of these videos are very sensitive that’s why it is private.
All we asking for right now is more pressuring on Iraqi government especially when it comes to homosexual rights. The ignorance of all international organizations is not acceptable, people are facing death and different threats because the human rights organizations do not show any attention and do not highlight the suffering of homosexual people in Iraq and in other Islamic countries.
Your help is needed.

I do not know where to start, but it is a strange feeling sometimes befall us a feeling of frustration because of an act or a person, but in fact my whole life that I live is always frustrated
Just if am thinking that am Gay sometimes I wish to die because of the country that am belong to , or because of the surrounding community, I live in a country that does not have the basic requirements of human beings to live normally what about Gays?
A country that knows only killing and destruction and sabotage language
i live in a country has been called the 'cradle of civilizations', but now not nothing!
I thought that some gays rights organizations caring about us but day after day i started to lose this feeling because their existence or non-existence is the same thing, it is not able to do
anything outside the countries that already have gays rights! by the governments itself . it's really sad .
I didn't opened my eyes to this world as a gay, but with the passage of time i started to find out that I am gay and what is the fault in that?!
I think that if you are gay or normal it doesn't matter because we all humans and we belong to this blessed earth ! , why did they do all this to us?
sometimes when am browsing Gay networking sites, i didn't use a real address coz I'm afraid that someone may know me and I exposing my life to danger and maybe i'll be killed! and am always used to change my address coz i'm afraid of militias and killers !
Even if i know someone who is gay in my country through networking sites this seeth I'm also afraid or the person who knew him because of our life
often envy some gays outside my country because they live their lives they have normal rights and have things they do , but it seems this is the fact of the matter must be on the former Deal!
any way I wish to all the ppl beautiful life and especially homosexuals, and i wish for them a life without annoying stuff and inconvenience
Sorry for going on but sometimes I need to talk and share my feelings
Peace

This is Ainara on behalf of MiraLES Magazine Madrid.

Our online magazine has the aim to promote lesbian visibility around the world, and obviously as a mean of information for the lesbian community. The issue is really spread out in Europe and South America, since the main language is Spanish, becoming the most read lesbian online magazine in Spain and South America. Now we have it in English too.

Next month we are doing a special number on Islam therefore all our sections will be oriented to cover women and lesbians life under this religion in order to create acknowledgement of this reality in Europe and South America.

I am in charge of "Lesbians around the world" section. Probably you are not aware of this section. Fortunately you can read some examples on MiraLES as there is an English version of them. This will give you an idea of the type of work we do. http://mirales.net/eng/?cat=12

So basically we are looking for a testimony, written on first person by a lesbian girl that would like to share her own experience. If any of you is interested please send us an email to the following address: directora@mirales.es

Many thanks in advance.

Regards from Spain.

Are you aware, at this precise moment as you are reading this letter, innocent men, women and children in Iraq are being selected, imprisoned, tortured and murdered in the most horrific, heinous and inhumane manner? Their only "crime" being that they are not heterosexual, but belong to the homosexual community.

The order for this witchhunt, a true violation against humanity, was set in motion by the Spiritual leader, Grand Aylotah Sistani, the preeminent Shia cleric for Shia in Iraq and around the world, as well as an important political figure in post-invasion Iraq. In October 2005 he posted, on his website, an anti-gay death fatwa to be carried out in the "worst, most severe way"- a crucification of innocent lesbian, gay and transgender people of Iraq! To counter this 'attack', the UK based Iraqi LGBT leader and organizer, Ali Hili, launched a campaign aiming to challenge this fatwa and succeeded in having the Sistani people remove the fatwa from their website. However, two separate militia factions are currently continuing to carry out this decree and each day in Iraq individuals are tortured, harassed and murdered for what is believed by these militia to be a crime of religion - and these murders remain exempt from prosecution.

Since then, under the leadership of Ali Hili, the Iraqi LGBT has set up safe houses and an underground railroad in Iraq to aid those at risk. Currently, Hili is struggling to gain asylum in the UK . His case has been set aside and was deemed to be "not compelling" enough to be granted priority. This case is without question, an issue of Human Rights and by failing to process and settle Ali Hili's case, the Home Office is aiding in the persecution of innocent people. Ali's case must be given the recognition that it deserves as it is of vital importance to prioritize his asylum in the UK so that he may have the right to travel to continue his mission to aid those in need.

We are aware that your organization is currently dealing with a multitude of cases regarding varied issues, however, immediate urgency and priority should be granted to this particular case. The Iraqi homosexual community are in imminent and immediate danger simply for being who they are. It is of vital importance for Hili to be given asylum in the UK so that he may obtain the necessary travel rights to achieve the goals of the Iraqi LGBT organization - to alert the world and expose the truth of the atrocities being committed towards the homosexual community in Iraq. We are requesting that your organization participate in assisting in the asylum case of Ali Hili. Discrimination against the homosexual community affects us all, not only those in Iraq. This is a grave crime against humanity, one for which we as a society, must collectively prevent.

We implore you to help the helpless in Iraq. Their voices are calling out, pleading
for outside intervention. Please do not allow their cries for help and awareness fall upon deaf ears. By petitioning for the granting of Ali Hili's asylum in the UK and his freedom to travel the world to tell his story, you become the Key Master. You are the ones who hold the "key" that unlocks the door of the homosexual community in Iraq's prison, allowing them entry into the world of freedom. Do not think for one moment that a crime against another does not affect you, for as a droplet of water falls into the ocean, the ocean itself is thus affected. What affects the "ONE" affects the "ALL".

Sincerely,
Elizabeth Dobbin

I shocked when I was in Iraqi Kurdistan region which is a secular part of iraq and its a very liberal place compare with other islamic countries, freedom is unlimited you could feel that you are not in east its almost like Europe! except only one point wich is homosexuality! Iraqi kurdistan region have a separate law and constitution which is most of the paragraph based on French and Scandinavian constitution with a little islamic liberal law but for the gay person still they use that paragraph of iraqi law against homosexual which is consider gay act as a crime and sickness and sentence them 2-4 years jail!!! I ask every one and ILGA to write a protest letter to the kurdish administration take away that craime and sickness in that paragraph against homosexual and freedom of homosexuality from 18 years of age ! there are some hidden gay organization in some cities but they need support from us ! if you care about others gay people in diffrent part of the world we appreciate if you write a protest letter to
