The International Association of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex People for Latin America and the Caribbean (ILGALAC) is pleased to announce that registration is already open for the Sixth Regional Conference, to be held in Cuba, in the cities of Varadero and Havana, from May 6 to 10, 2014, with the theme of "Unity of Latin America and the Caribbean for LGBTI Rights."
Those interested in participating should go to the registration form in ILGALAC’s new website. We recommend that before they start filling out the form they have ready: contact details, passport number and details of the organization they represent (address, zip code, telephone numbers and e-mails). Registration will be open through March 14 (11 PM, Buenos Aires time).
Important: On the same form applicants can request grants for airfare, room and board, and/or registration fees.
About the Sixth Regional Conference, Pedro Paradiso Sottile, Regional Secretary for ILGALAC, said: "We at ILGALAC’s Regional Office are delighted that this registration process opens the way for hundreds of us activists from Latin America and the Caribbean to meet together in Cuba, where we will share and discuss the current challenges of our LGBTI community. The ILGALAC Regional Conference is the largest gathering of LGBTI organizations in the region and we are proud that there are more and more organizations involved and requesting membership in ILGA. "
Note that this is the first time that the registration process is being conducted online, coinciding with the launch of ILGALAC’s new website. The new website also has updates on ILGALAC and ILGA World, including a complete listing of all ILGALAC member organizations in every country of Latin America and the Caribbean, information for the media, a digital library of documents relevant to the LGBTI community, and a weekly news summary.
"The team at the Regional Office in Buenos Aires has made an effort to create a modern web, with pertinent information for all the LGBTI organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean. We are constantly working to provide more resources and tools to the activists in our region, as well as to member organizations. Our aim is that the web will become a regional hub for interconnection within our LGBTI community," added Paradiso Sottile.
