Jamaat-E-Islami holds Joint Press Conference of Religious Leaders to oppose Gay Rights

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind- India’s largest and most influential body of Muslim clerics- on Thursday organized a joint press conference of different religious leaders to raise voice in unison against attempts by the Government to decriminalize homosexuality. All leaders welcomed the apex court order upholding the Article 377 which holds homosexuality a criminal offence. They warned the government against any move to nullify the order and legalize homosexuality.

The press conference was addressed by Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari, Amir (National President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Jagat Guru Swami Omkaranand, Gyani Ranjit Singh, Chief Priest, Bangla Saheb Gurudwara and Fr. Dominic Emmanuel. Jamaat secretaries Maulana Rafeeque Qasmi and Mohammad Ahmed were also present at the occasion. Read more
