Amnesty to Zambia: Release 2 men facing gay sex charges

Amnesty International this week renewed its campaign for the release of two young men in Zambia who have been imprisoned for five months on charges of homosexual activity. If convicted, they could face up to 14 years in prison. On Sept. 11, just before a routine court appearance for the pair, Amnesty issued this statement: Zambia must immediately drop the charges against two men accused of same-sex sexual conduct and release them from prison unconditionally, Amnesty International said ahead of a court hearing Thursday.
