ILGA together with FIDH (La Fédéreation Internationale des ligues des Droits de l’Homme) will host a side event at the 24 session of the Human Rights Council titled "Human Rights Defenders: Voices and Challenges"

Human Rights Defenders from around the world, including those working on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI), face a variety of challenges as they carry out their work. Some face harrassment in their work and many face bureaucratic barriers. A few face detention and abduction, and some pay the ultimate price with their lives.
This panel is an opportunity to hear from SOGI human rights defenders from around the word: Bangladesh, Cameroon, Kenya, Mexico, Saint Lucia and Venezuela.
The event includes the showing of a 30-minutes documentary produced by ARC international.
Lunch will the provided outside the room from 12.30 p.m.
