The founder and until recently the Executive Director of Blue Diamond Society (BDS) introduces his replacement as Executive Director. The eminent Sunil Pant also thanked people who helped him and Blue Diamond Society in their struggle for LGBTI rights advocacy and reforms in Nepal for the past 13 years. Read Sunil Pant's message below.
Good day to all. Times fly so fast, its been 12 years (or unofficially13 years) since I initiated little efforts to help ourselves (sexual and gender minority communities in Nepal) that has grown up as a national movement by now, I am leaving Blue Diamond Society and today is my last day. The movement and Blue Diamond Society gave me the opportunity to be part of such an amazing revolution (or better to name it as a non-violent movement)? and the greatest wisdom that I learn and experience here is to have you all as my colleagues, allies, supporters, teachers and guides. I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to all of you people by writing this letter. You are so amazing. Without your moral, political, social, financial, technical and spiritual support, the challenging task would have been impossible for us to perform. I would also like to thank, a true and humble gratitude, to those who challenged us time to time, that only made us stronger and made us learn difficult lessons and improve ourselves.
I am very happy to leave BDS with much better hands and I am sure BDS will continue to make progress with its many talented existing leaders and new leaders who have just joined BDS and will join the movement in future.? Especial thanks to BDS board, and our current president Pinky Gurung ("Sanjeev Gurung Koili" email@example.com), Manisha Dhakal, Deputy Director of BDS ("Suben Dhakal" firstname.lastname@example.org), all the BDS staff, LGBTI members, other CBOs, Nepal government, Nepal's judiciary and legal experts, National Human Rights institutions, Inter/national NGOs, UN, bilateral and multilateral donors, Media, political parties, general population of Nepal and many more.... I also like to thank my family members (my parent, my Siblings, my relative and my partner) for standing by my side all the time.
Now, I am very pleased to introduce to you all, a dynamic man (a true straight ally for LGBTI movement anywhere) who will join BDS as a new executive director from tomorrow, 1st of August 2013 : Mr Sudeep Bahadur Singh Sudeep Bahadur Singhis a Project Management Specialist who has masters degree in Anthropology and has over twenty years of working experience through various executive and advisory roles in social development sector of Nepal. Last but not the least, I like to end this email by sharing a Buddha's teachings that like the most: They may address you in an affectionate way or a harsh way. They may address you in a beneficial way or an unbeneficial way. They may address you with a mind of good-will or with inner hate. In any event, you should train yourselves: Our minds will be unaffected and we will say no evil words. We will remain sympathetic to that person's welfare, with a mind of good will, and with no inner hate. We will keep pervading him with an awareness imbued with good will and, beginning with him, we will keep pervading the all-encompassing world with an awareness imbued with good will equal to the great earth - abundant, expansive, immeasurable, free from hostility, free from ill will. That's how you should train yourselves.
Majjhima Nikaya 21 Wish you all a true peace in your mind!
