Facing transition amid near absence of support

With the advent of some physical and psychological transformations from the age of nine, Nasima had started feeling uneasy in her body.
“I just did not feel like I fitted in with other boys. My gestures, behaviour, speech and walking styles were turning girlish. I started feeling good using cosmetics. But this all happened in my subconscious mind…I did not do it intentionally,” said Nasima.

Unable to bear with her surroundings, Nasima left her family at the age of 14, moved to Dhaka and started working as a garment worker. Sadly sexual harassment by colleagues forced her to quit the job within three months. Read more
