The group’s goal is to provide moral and financial support to LGBTI inmates in prisons across the country who suffer violent treatment at the hands of homophobic guards and inmates. Twenty 20 LGBTI women and men or more currently in prison in Cameroon for their sexual orientation, the association says. Others are awaiting trial on homosexuality charges. Still others are struggling to rebuild their lives after being released from prison into a homophobic society.
