Caribbean HIV Aids Partnership Dominica Chapter (DomCHAP) to host first Dominican Women and Sexual Diversity Conference.

in DOMINICA, 27/05/2014

Dominica will host the first Women and Sexual Diversity conference organized by the Dominica chapter of the Caribbean HIV/AIDS Partnership. The event takes place this Saturday 31st, at Prevost Cinema Conference Room, Roseau, Commonwealth of Dominica, from 9am to 4pm. Inquiries: Arlene Gregoire (chapdominica@live.com)

The workshop will see roughly 25 women banding together to focus on advocacy around Lesbian Bisexual and Transgender women.

Under the theme “Invisible no more; empowering her to leadership”, activists will identify critical issues affecting LBT (Lesbian Bisexual Transgender) women in Dominica and seek to defined action to address them.

LBT women in Dominica, like the rest of the LGBT (Lesbian Gays Bisexual Transgender) community, are invisible in many sectors; including health and women’s rights.

Through the workshop, DomCHAP is hopeful that the women will finally generate a voice.

The workshop is funded by amfAR-The American Foundation for AIDS Research, a leading organization dedicated to the support of HIV/AIDS research.
