in UNITED STATES, 23/06/2013

The newly opened Chicago-based National Gay and Lesbian Sports Hall of Fame has announced its first inductees and the inaugural class includes members of the media, pro athletes and the Outsports group.

Created by Bill Grubud, founder of the original Gay Day sporting event and Out at Wrigley Fiel, to honour the achievement of LGBT people in sports, the Gay and Lesbian Sports Hall of Fame will induct its first members in a ceremony on August 3 in conjunction with Out at Wrigley.

To be considered for nomination for the National Gay and Lesbian Sports Hall of Fame, an individual, either amateur or professional, must be in the sports arena that has demonstrated athletic achievements beyond compare.

Nominees for consideration can be either a LGBT member or heterosexual and exhibited advancement for the LGBT community.
