WorldPride calls for presentations for 2014 human rights conference in Toronto

in CANADA, 23/04/2013

The organizing committee want activists, artists, educators, journalists, policy-makers, students and others involved in sexual orientation and gender identity human rights work to submit presentations to be considered to be shown at The WorldPride Human Rights Conference 2014.

The themes for the conference include: youth and children; trans rights and activism, sex work, sodomy laws, social media, aging and the role of law. Applications can be made on the website from now until 15 June 2013.

The conference is using the abbreviation 'LGBTTIQQ2SA' which they say refers to 'a broad array of identities such as, but not limited to, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, transgender, intersex, queer, questioning, two-spirited, and allies'. Two-spirited refers to transgender identities in Native American and First Nation Canadian cultures.

Pride Toronto co-chairs Francisco Alvarez and Sean Hillier who say the event will be the largest of its kind in the world.
