Trans/intersex passports policy becomes official

in NEW ZEALAND, 07/12/2012

Internal Affairs’ more flexible passport policy for transgender and intersex people has come into effect.

The new policy means applicants who provide a witnessed Statutory Declaration with their passport application, outlining their circumstances, can advise the gender identity they wish to be displayed in their passport.

It would also allow people to choose whether they want to have M, F or X on their passport.
