After a long battle with the Refugee Review Tribunal who denied they were gay, our two friends got the word last month that the government granted them refugee status.
The couple courageously address the large December 3 marriage equality rally asking for the LGBTI community to support them. CAAH has been instrumental in campaigning for them to be recognized as refugees, with petitions to the Minister and addressing the RRT. It is another win for human and queer rights that this gay couple won against a bigoted and homophobic RRT and Immigration Minister.
