Statement by Civil Society Organizations for the attention of European Union decision-makers - 54th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women
For the attention of European Union decision-makers
In view of the 54th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, we European civil society organisations and trade unions would like to stress our hope that UN CSW54 will result in a strong outcome and renewed commitment from Member States to the full realization of the Beijing Platform for action, the outcomes of the twenty-third special session of the General Assembly and to tackling remaining and new challenges. We very much hope that the European Union will take a lead in ensuring such a strong outcome for the realization of women’s rights and gender equality.
In view of the information recently sent to us by United nations services, we also want to express our deep concern for the expected limited access to meetings for delegates of civil society organizations from around the world who have been working very hard and committed resources towards the Beijing+15 process and sincerely hope all efforts will be made to ensure their full participation at the UN CSW54.
Many thanks in advance for your support and cooperation during the upcoming meeting.
