Reform in South Australia

in AUSTRALIA, 30/11/2004

The South Australian Liberal Party wants to kill-off the legal recognition of same-sex relationships

The South Australian Liberal Party wants to kill-off the legal recognition of same-sex relationships by sending the relevant legislation to parliamentary inquiry when it reaches the state Upper House.

This is despite South Australia being the last state to reform relationship laws, and despite the fact that an inquiry into this reform has already been conducted.

The real aim of the Liberal Party is to ensure the legislation is not considered before the state election due in March 2006.

The South Australian Let’s Get Equal campaign group is conducted a letter writing campaign which it is seeking widespread support for. If you have a moment please send a letter to Upper House members urging them not to support another, unnecessary inquiry.

Meanwhile, Let‚s Get Equal is conducting a rally outside the SA Parliament this coming Monday, December 6th at 12.30pm
