Argentina will support the Brazilian resolution

In March 11th the Minister of Outer Relations of Argentina, Dr Rafael Bielsa, had communicate with the Comunidad Homosexual Argentina (CHA) to confirm and to advance the affirmative vote of Argentina on the proposal of Brazil before the Commission of Human rights of the United Nations, to include the sexual discrimination by orientacion and gender identity.

Argentina is part of the Commission of Human rights of the United Nations. During the session of year 2003 it became publishes the position of the Argentine government through the former Minister of Outer Relations, Trade International and Cult, Dr Carlos Ruckauf, to vote in negative form. The CHA began a campaign in our country and Geneva through concrete actions to manage to change this vote, soliciing the approval of the project or in its case the abstention. The government abstained in the voting and the subject was posponed to the session of year 2004.

On December, 18th for the first time in Argentina, the Minister of Outer Relations, Dr Rafael Bielsa, received to Kursad Kahramanoglu, Secretary General of the ILGA (Association the International of Lesbianas and Gays, that was of visit in our country), to Cesar Cigliutti, Marcelo Suntheim and Pedro Paradiso Sottile, representatives of Comunidad Homosexual Argentina (CHA) where they asked for the affirmative vote of Argentina before the Commission of Human rights of the United Nations for the proposal of Resolution presented by Brazil, to incorporate the discrimination by sexual orientation. They gave a letter with antecedents and documentation of the organization to him, soliciing our country supports and cosponsors the resolution and incorporates the gender identity.

Minister Bielsa advance that was in agreement with the affirmatively vote of Argentina, to incorporate the nondiscrimination by sexual orientation and gender identity and which the final decision was for the President from the Nation, Néstor Kirchner to take place. Whm decided personally the affirmative vote of our country in the CHR.

This decision is very important since ours country this year presides over Latin American Grup (GRULAC) in the Summit and for Argentina´s history it will be the first time to have a position at international level of sexual nondiscrimination by orientacion and gender identity.
