Over a million condoms and lubricants will be distributed at fitness centres, saunas and sex and entertainment venues in 48 provinces across the country to promote safe sex and prevent HIV infections in the gay community. The move came after a new report showed infections among men who have sex with men were rising at an alarming rate.
A major US report says that the unique health needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people should be identified. The Institute of Medicine report says that government-funded health studies should routinely ask people their sexual orientation and gender identity, just as they already ask about race and ethnicity.
The Thai Health Ministry has launched an AIDS campaign with the impossible targets of zero new infections. Public Health Minister Jurin Laksanawisit said yesterday. The Ministry also aims for zero new AIDS related deaths and zero discrimination against HIV sufferers.
