Eve Ensler, acclaimed playwright and activist, recently visited the country to promote One Billion Rising, a global campaign to end violence against women. Ensler is best known for her play The Vagina Monologues, which has been translated to 48 languages and performed in 140 countries, including the Philippines. Internationally acclaimed Filipina theater actress, Monique Wilson, has publicly announced during a press conference of the One Billion Rising Advocacy that she is a gay woman. She admitted her being a lesbian to help support the said advocacy group, who is working on a global campaign to stop the violence against women.
