Almost a year ago, the South African Government committed to the Human Rights Council that it would organise a Regional Seminar on Ending Violence based on Sexual Orientation and gender Identity and Expression in Africa.
This Seminar is a key part of a global process to consult with all regions of the world on ending violence, other violations and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity and expression. >>>

Violence against sexual minorities in Africa is rife. Persons belonging to or perceived to be members of the broad grouping ‘lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI)’ are often victim of violence in African states. >>>
A press statement released on Friday October 21 by the Coalition of African Lesbians, joining the African Union member states, the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights, the members of African civil society organizations and their international partners in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights.
