ILGA receives Pioneer Award from IGLTA

Recently ILGA received the Pioneer Award at the convention of IGLTA, The International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association for the work the organisation is doing for human rights and the safety of LGBTI people around the world.\n

In his remarks during the award ceremony, European Representative to the ILGA World Board, Martin Christensen, remarked that it is important that companies operating in the tourism world are aware of their responsibility. In some parts of the world, it is dangerous to be LGBTI and businesses must be aware that they can bring local communities in danger if they act carelessly.


About 275 delegates from 32 countries gathered in Madrid for networking and education to further lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender tourism globally


IGLTA was founded in 1983, has members in more than 80 countries, and is dedicated to connecting and educating LGBT travellers and the businesses that welcome and support them.
