Helpline for transgender people launched in Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh will now be counted among three states to have India's first dedicated 24-hour 'Sahaay' helpline service for acknowledged homosexuals and transgender community, which provides counselling and information on HIV/AIDS, psycho, social and legal issues to the hidden community. New Delhi and Maharashtra are two other states where the helpline has been launched.

Talking to TOI, Vikas Rajput, state programme director and president of transgender’s NGO called ‘Mitwa’ said, "Started on September 1 in Chhattisgarh, we have received more than 3000 calls in last one month alone while over 3000 calls have been received by other two places in New Delhi and Maharashtra.
