The convening will be organized by Open Society Foundations and Wellspring Advisors, in partnership with Global Action for Trans Equality (GATE). A central principle of this meeting is that it be developed as collaboration between the donor and trans communities. In order to enable this, a working group is being established consisting of representatives from the three organizing bodies, along with 4 other trans advocates.

The working group will be responsible for the following activities:

– Identifying the themes and key issues relating to trans rights to be presented on at the convening;
– Creating an open call for trans rights organizations and ally organizations working on trans rights to submit applications to present and participate at the convening, based on the identified themes and key issues;
– Creating the agenda for the convening, based on the selected presentations and identified issues relating to funding on trans rights.

Membership on the working group will involve participation in 3 conference calls (lasting around 2 hours and conducted in English) and responding to periodic communication over email.

If you are interested in nominating to be a part of the convening working group, please send a 2-3 paragraph application to GATE ( by Tuesday, July 30 2013. This should include your experience with the trans community, ability to help shape the meeting, and any other relevant experiences.
