JACOBUS WITBOOI

Dear friends, Pan Africa ILGA and ILGA are in state of shock for the loss of Jacobus Witbooi, who passed away today after two harrowing weeks of hospitalisation in Johannesburg due to malaria.

Jacobus embodied the very spirit of Pan Africa ILGA: young, committed, proud and thoughtful, open and close to the heart of many. We have lost so much more than a colleague and a comrade. We have a lost a friend, a brother. The unbearable emptiness we are feeling right now is only soothed by the certainty that there are many of us sharing this sense of loss.

We are close to his family and friends and to all those who had the fortune of having met Jacobus and have their hearts touched by his friendship and kindness.

We will keep you updated as to the date of the funeral.

The ILGA World Conference will commemorate Jacobus next week in Bangkok at the opening ceremony.

Our friend and colleague, may you rest in power.
