Report
The Kaleidoscope Youth Network is an umbrella youth organisation located in South Africa that comprises of seventeen LGBTIA student solidarity organisations found at tertiary education institutions throughout the country. Examples of member organisations are Activate Wits, Lesbigay, Rainbow Blood and POUT. The Network endeavours to eradicate hate crimes on campuses, promote wellbeing, and develop future leaders. The Network is run by a small Executive Committee and the collective meets annually at a Lekgotla (conference) to discuss issues related to youth activism in a challenging climate where issues like rape and murder of gay and lesbian persons are significant and threaten the wellbeing of all. We recognise that there are specific youth issues that stand out from broader sector issues, like conflict with parents, academic inclusivity and initiation practises on campuses.
