Report
Hoshen is the information and education center of the LGBT community in Israel. Hoshen is a nationwide, non-profit volunteer organization which purpose is to fight stereotypes regarding sexual orientation and gender identity. Over 200 volunteers work to achieve this goal, daily, through a wide array of educational activities aimed at many different target audiences: high school students and teachers, university students and faculty members, police officers, soldiers, army cadets and officers, medical staff, etc. Hoshen is officially recognized by the Educational Psychological Authority of the Ministry of Education. Hoshen was founded in 2001 and In July 2004 it became an independent public-benefit corporation. We are carrying out a wide range of educational activities, theoretical lectures, workshops and seminars. One of Hoshen's main educational activities is the personal story: Two LGBT individuals share their own personal story with the unique attributes of each story-teller. The way that the personal story is conveyed helps the audience relate and sympathize with them. This section is followed by an open discussion with the audience. Hoshen also has an academic research teams that deals with LGBT related topics.
