Stowarzyszenie Lambda Warszawa (The Lambda Warszawa Association)
(est.1997)
Warsaw, Poland
www.lambdawarszawa.org
Our statutory aims are:
• building a positive identity of homosexual, bisexual and transgender people.
• promoting social tolerance/acceptance for LGBTQ people.
• fighting discrimination, especially with regards to sexual orientation.
• combating HIV/AIDS and other Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
We are a member of the Polish Help-lines Association, the Polish Federation of Social Service Organizations and the National Federation of Non-Government Organizations.
We operate an Information and Support Centre in central Warsaw so as to provide information and support to LGBT persons and their relatives. The centre runs a helpline and we also provide separate support groups for gays, lesbians and transsexuals, as well as for parents/relatives of LGBT persons. Our legal, medical and psychological counseling specialists are available on individual appointment; a library with a reading room provides LGBTQ-related literature. We organize film performances and discussions. In total about 2,500 people made use of the services of our centre in 2010.
