The Dalai Lama made the comments in an interview to be aired 10 March on Ora.tv, saying it was up to individual countries whether they legalized same-sex marriage.
‘That I think is a personal matter,’ the Dalai Lama said of the international debate over the rights of LGBTI people. ‘I think that’s an individual’s business,’ the Dalai Lama said, ‘ That, you should follow according to your own tradition.’

“Bullying – that’s totally wrong, that’s a violation of human rights.’

The Dalai Lama said Buddhism held that there were various forms of sexual misconduct but for non-believers he just hoped their relationships were safe and fully consensual. He said same-sex marriage was an ‘individual business.’
