Cops to be sensitised on issues facing marginalised women

Police across the state will soon be trained and sensitized to problems faced by sex workers and transgenders. Steps will be put in place to ensure that members of this section of society receive benefits of various entitlements and welfare schemes meant for women, officials at a consultative meeting announced on Monday.

The event, which was a one-day consultation on designing a social inclusion plan for marginalized and excluded women, was organized by the National Mission for Empowerment of Women (NMEW) and Centre for Advocacy and Research (CFAR) and focused on social inclusion and mainstreaming of vulnerable sections of women and transgenders.
