The GO Visible Award will recognise an organisation or individual for promoting LGBTI rights; empowering LGBTI people; and supporting cooperation and alliances with other organisations in hostile places. The 2,000 cash prize and two runner-up prizes will be awarded at the ILGA Conference in Stockholm on 16 December 2012.
The GO Visible (Get Organised and Visible) Award will be handed to an organisation or individual for recently creating or making sustainable an organisation or campaign for the human rights of LGBTI people, particularly in hostile contexts. The main 2,000 prize and the two runners-up prizes of 500 each consist of private donations from Presidents of the LGBT Intergroup. All three winners will be announced on the Intergroup website (www.lgbt-ep.eu), unless they request anonymity.
Candidates must satisfy all following criteria in order to be eligible:
- Be an organisation (registered or not) or an individual working for the human rights of LGBTI people in any country or region outside of the European Union, the European Free Trade Association, San Marino, Monaco, the United States of America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan;
- Demonstrate, in maximum 200 words, how the candidates actions recently helped promote the human rights of LGBTI persons in hostile contexts; empowered LGBTI people; or supported positive alliances with non-LGBTI organisations;
- Be present at the ILGA Conference in Stockholm on 16 December.
Candidates are invited to send their applications, consisting 200 words maximum describing their work, and a link to their website if they have one, before Sunday 9 December.
Members of the LGBT Intergroup will vote on applications.
The GO Award was first given out by Ulrike Lunacek in November 2008 during the ILGA Conference in Vienna.
